The chessboxing is an hybrid sport which combines chess and boxing. The concept of this sport had been guessed in 1992 by the comics of Enki Bilal.
The history of this sport begins with the film Uuno Turharparo - herra Helsingin herra, where Uuno plays chess against a person and at the same time he has a boxing fight.
The rules are the next: 2 oponents with 11 rounds. In each round there are 4 minutes in chess and 3 minutes in boxing. Between each round there is one minute breaktime.
The oponents can win for K.O., checkmate or a decision of the judges when the 12 minutes of oponent have passed.
The sport is controlled by the World Chessboxing Organization(WCBO). The first world championship was in Amsterdam, in 2003, where the champion was Lepe Rubingh. The first european championship was in Berlin, in 2005, where the champion was Tihomir Titschko.
